The Citadel and really the Mohammed Ali Mosque have been popping up in the background of all my photos so I was pretty excited to finally make it out there. It was a little disappointing to show up and see several giant tour buses lined up in the parking lot. I'm much happier when I arrive at an empty mosque where my kids can run around without being scooped up by every curious Egyptian who manages to corner them.
But nonetheless we enjoyed our time at the Mohammed Ali Mosque.
Hedges with the name Allah carved into them? I love it.
So maybe I had to lie on my back in the middle of the mosque to get this shot? So what. At least I didn't look as foolish as the Japanese guy below who was posing for pictures outside.
